Tripe + Drisheen are about to take a giant leap...we're about to go to print for the very first time.

The first ever PRINT EDITION of Tripe + Drisheen is out soon!

That’s right, we’ve been busy working away behind the scenes to produce a beautiful, seasonal Christmas print edition of our small independent Cork newsletter.

We’re nearly finished our proofing and our nail-biting, and this weekend the presses will be rolling.

Our 48-page magazine will be available from November 12 in a selection of small independent retail outlets.

We’re not going to spoil the surprise by unveiling the cover…just yet!

We’ve worked with illustrator Emer Kiely, who has produced beautiful cover art, and our incredibly patient designer Dave Crowley, and a host of contributors and writers to put together a special edition that we are extremely excited about.

Inside, investigative pieces from JJ and Ellie, a festive food spread, photographic spreads from local photographers who’ve captured the essence of Cork, guest writers, local history and more in our winter special print edition. And absolutely no advertising at all.

Our totally ad-free publication will be on sale for €4.50 and we’ll be publishing our list of stockists soon.

Because we are SO small and DIY, we are distributing the magazine ourselves. So far, all our outlets are in Cork city, so if anyone reading this knows of small shops/cafés/retail outlets in Cork county that would stock them, feel free to get in touch!

To say a huge thank you to our subscribers, each of you will be offered a print copy mailed to you free of charge. We will send a separate email to arrange postal details for those of you who want this collector’s item delivered straight to your door: you’ve been the backbone of our support in this first year of Tripe + Drisheen and we can’t wait to send you a copy in thanks!

Pop-up Merch stalls and meet your Tripe + Drisheen journalists

We have also been working on some beautiful custom merch - organic cotton T-shirts, tote bags and hoodies from a local printer, plus a few little extras. Here’s a little sneak preview:

On Saturday, November 13 and Sunday, November 14, JJ and Ellie will be personally manning a Tripe + Drisheen pop-up stall at the Coal Quay Farmer’s Market (Saturday) and Blackrock Village farmer’s market (Sunday).

You can stop by, buy a copy of the magazine or some merch if you’re so inclined, shoot the breeze, tip us off to stories, shame our typos or offer to write for us….it’s all welcome.

It’s been a year of way too much virtual and this is a perfect opportunity to meet in person. We had been planning a launch party prior to the news that restrictions would remain in place after October 22 so we’re going with our outdoor Plan B for now….and when we have our launch at our first anniversary in February of next year, the party will be all the more welcome.

Gift Subscriptions: the perfect Christmas present for the news lover in your life

We will also be selling a gift subscription box at our market stalls and online: a beautifully presented gift box with a copy of the magazine, an organic cotton T-shirt, a T + D mug and T + D pen, with a personalised card of thanks from us that you can give your loved one as a Christmas gift to compliment a gift subscription.

You simply buy the gift box of goodies, and then purchase the gift subscription separately online at a time of your choosing: maybe Christmas Eve when Santa is on his way?! (gift subscriptions do not renew after the year expires but you need the email address of your loved one to sign them up).
