Prior to the mid-1800s, Cork was rife with stray, rabid dogs, comparable only to Lisbon for its number of crazed canines.

The name Tramore Road, on the south side of Cork city, belies an evocative history. 

Stretching from Kinsale Road in Ballyphehane to Casey’s Cross in Togher, its name derives from the Tramore River that runs parallel to the road.
