In pictures: let the games begin on Cork city's first permanent outdoor chess tables

Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor Deirdre Forde unveiled the new chess tables on Pope's Quay outside Myo Cafe this afternoon.

A crowd of chess enthusiasts, curious onlookers, Cork City Council staff and the creative team that helped make the city’s first permanent chess tables gathered on Pope’s Quay this afternoon for the official launch of the chess - and draughts - tables.
