Now in its eighteenth year, the Ocean to City -An Rás Mór boat race saw crews and boats converge on Crosshaven and Monkstown as they rowed their way up Cork harbour into the city centre.
They came from Bristol, London, Dublin, the Netherlands and Templenoe in County Kerry and rowed in skiffs, dragon boats, canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and, of course, the currachs made by Meithal Mara in the community boatyard at Crosse’s Green in Cork City.
Photographer Clare Keogh spent the day with crews as they gathered and launched from the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven and made their way up the harbour past Cobh, Spike Island, Monkstown, Passage, Blackrock Castle and up past Kennedy Quay to the finish line where crowds gathered to celebrate one of the country’s biggest boat races.

Cork Harbour Festival runs from 2-11 June 2023 with 80+ events in a dozen locations across Cork City & Harbour.
